Purity of sealed areas such as concrete etc

Question

(Fatwa: #041)

Regarding the purity of the surface outside for praying salaat. We discussed that the earth is considered to be clean. Does this include uncovered areas that are sealed (such as pavement, concrete, roads etc). What if the area is covered, such as a car park where it may have a roof?

We have received your query regarding the purity of sealed surfaces, our response is as follows:

Surfaces which have been sealed off with substances such as concrete will also become pure when they become dry (due to the sun or any other means) and the effect ( colour, smell, taste) of the Najaasat (impurity) does not remain.
